César Pesciotto: Despite the disappointing final result, the players showed great fighting spirit on the field.

Wolves manager Cesar Peschoto said his team failed to capitalize on possession and control the tempo of the game in Saturday's away match against Middlesbrough, ultimately losing by a narrow margin. This was Wolves' second defeat in the Championship this season. Middlesbrough celebrated their 150th anniversary, and Will Rankshire scored a second-half header to seal the victory for the home side.

With the Championship schedule getting tighter, Cesar Peschoto hopes his team can gain confidence from their comebacks when they fall behind and carry that fighting spirit into their upcoming match against Bolton at Molineux Stadium.

Speaking about the away defeat to Middlesbrough, Cesar Peschoto said: "We expected it to be a challenging match. Middlesbrough is a strong team with an excellent overall performance. In the first half, they dominated possession and maintained a very compact defensive formation, which sometimes made it difficult for us to find suitable opportunities to press high. However, despite having more possession, they didn't create many real chances to threaten our goal."

“I think the area we need to improve the most in the first half is how we handle possession after regaining it. We failed to maintain possession effectively and were unable to control the game at our own pace. The team was always eager to push forward and speed up the attack, which led to us quickly losing possession again and allowing Middlesbrough to regain control of the game.”

"At halftime, I emphasized to the players that the team must stick to the established way of playing, extend possession as much as possible, and further strengthen control of the game's tempo. However, after Middlesbrough took the lead, we immediately responded positively. The team continued to press the opponent, pinning them in their own half, and creating threats through numerous crosses and attacks inside the penalty area."

“In my opinion, we still have room for improvement in our final passing and cross selection, and we need to commit more players to aerial duels and tackling in the penalty area to increase the chances of scoring. However, the team did create a lot of chances and gradually gained the upper hand as the game progressed. The substitutes also made important contributions, which improved the team's overall performance.”

"Undoubtedly, I am disappointed with the final result, but I am satisfied with the team's performance after falling behind. The players showed tenacity, the necessary strength, good tactical discipline, and a strong desire to win. They kept trying to find scoring opportunities and hoped to take points away. Next, we must move forward."

“We know very well that the team can’t win every game. But as long as we can continue to show this level of competition and maintain a positive attitude in the final stages of the game, I believe that we will eventually win more games than we lose.”

“Looking back at the last two matches, we fought hard until the very end, always aiming for all three points. Even if we couldn’t win, we hoped to at least get one point. I think the final score against West Ham United didn’t fully reflect the actual situation of the game. The team played exceptionally well, and I’m satisfied with the players’ overall performance.”

"As for today's match, I think the team should have increased possession time in the first half to better control the rhythm of the game. After conceding a goal in the second half, the players responded quickly and positively, fully demonstrating that we are capable of competing with this team. I have never had any doubt that the team has this kind of strength."

"This match was quite tough, but afterwards I told the players that we should keep our heads up and look ahead. Facing a strong opponent, we not only need to play away from home, but we also need to bounce back after conceding a goal, and the team's final reaction fully demonstrates our strength. We cannot stop, we must continue to fight, and I believe the team is making steady progress."
