In a recent interview, Brazilian star Vinicius Junior discussed the challenges facing La Liga giants Real Madrid this year and expressed his belief that the team's dressing room will become more united in the new season.
In the 2025/26 season, Real Madrid's performance in all competitions was commendable, but they were unable to go further, and the team spirit among the players has always been a topic of discussion.
In the El Clásico match of the 35th round of La Liga this season, Real Madrid lost 0-2 to Barcelona at Camp Nou, allowing Flick's team to clinch the title three rounds early.
However, in the final round of La Liga, Real Madrid defeated Athletic Bilbao 4-2 with goals from Gonzalo Garcia, Bellingham, Mbappe and Brahim Diaz, finishing in second place.
Vinicius Jr., 25, said, "Our team no longer has Nacho, Modric, and Kroos, and Carvajal is injured. They brought a lot of experience to the team. Now Valverde and I have a lot of match experience, but not so much in terms of dressing room management. We don't have enough experience to take on such responsibilities, so we must continue to learn."
“This season, we have learned a lot about locker room management, and next season we will have a better locker room atmosphere and be more united, and we will be a better team. We are in a transitional phase, and we must change our roles to help the team.”
Vinicius said, "Sometimes, it's good to look back at everything we've achieved. It makes you realize that winning what we've accomplished in the past wasn't easy. I've gotten used to winning, but I've also developed bad habits. There's immense pressure here, which is part of what the best team in the world has to face. Everyone is waiting for us to make mistakes, and we've messed up for two seasons in a row, so we can't afford to fail again."
Speaking about his relationship with French striker Kylian Mbappé, Vinicius said, "Mbappé and I have always maintained a very good relationship, both on and off the pitch. I keep sending him a lot of messages, hoping he can join Real Madrid. Although we haven't been able to perform as well as we'd like yet, and haven't won any titles, we are fully capable of turning things around."
“Mbappe is a very good person. Whether in interviews or on the pitch, he always protects me, just like in the game against Benfica. If it were him, I would stand up for him too. He is a legendary player and will write an era for Real Madrid.”
