Gordon joins Barcelona hoping to play alongside Yamar.

England striker Eric Gordon has officially joined La Liga giants Barcelona, signing a five-year contract. In an interview, Gordon stated that he is very much looking forward to playing with Yamar and his teammates, and hopes to win championships with the team.

The 25-year-old Gordon previously played for Newcastle United in the Premier League, contributing 6 goals and 3 assists for the Magpies in the 2025/26 Premier League season, and 10 goals and 1 assist in the Champions League.

Gordon said, "I've dreamed of playing for Barcelona since I was 3 years old. I want to speak Spanish because I always believed I would play for Barcelona someday when I was a child. I have a physiotherapist in Newcastle, and we talk almost every day. I always tell him that I will play for Barcelona someday, so I want to learn Spanish."

“I spoke with head coach Flick, and if I was already very excited before we talked, I was even more excited afterward. He is a very good person and an incredible coach, and I hope we can win many championships together.”

Gordon continued, "I'm really looking forward to playing alongside Yamar and the rest of the team. They are all top players, the best in the world. I've experienced that firsthand when we played against them. Playing at St. James' Park is always very difficult because the atmosphere there is incredibly intense. But Frenkie de Jong and Pedri completely controlled the game; they even made it difficult for us to get the ball."

“I’ve only won one trophy at Newcastle, and if I could only choose one I hope to win here, it would be the Champions League, but my goal is to win everything. It would be a very special moment to lift the Champions League trophy with this club. I can feel the passion for football in this city. If it really happens, it would be incredible. It would be even better if we could do it in my first season here.”

Speaking about Newcastle, Gordon shared, "I owe this club a lot because when I came here, I felt lost, both in life and in football. This club gave me a sense of belonging and helped me find my identity, which enabled me to do things that I've always believed I could do. This club took me to the biggest stage and gave me the opportunity to contribute to this shirt."

"It is very important to me to leave Newcastle in a good way because I loved every minute I spent at Newcastle. It is an incredible club and a place I will never forget. I will be a Newcastle fan for the rest of my life."
