Sverre Nypan, the 19-year-old Norwegian midfield star, recently gave an interview summarizing his first season after joining Manchester City.
Nepan stated that he has grown into a better footballer compared to the beginning of the 2025-26 season. He officially joined Manchester City last summer, spent the first half of the season on loan at Middlesbrough, and returned to the City Football Academy at the beginning of this year.
After that, Nipan not only impressed with his performances in Manchester City's Elite Development Team (EDS), but also regularly participated in training with the first team. As a highly talented central midfielder with a strong goal-scoring ability, Nipan believes that his biggest transformation in England has been in his mentality.
Speaking about this experience, Nipan said on Manchester City's official podcast: "Mental state and mental fortitude are the most important things, and I think I've improved the most in that area. It was tough, but I learned a lot. I didn't get consistent playing time at Middlesbrough, but dealing with that kind of challenge was very beneficial."
“Returning to Manchester City and training and giving my all with one of the best teams in the world is also a great learning experience. I feel I am now better prepared to do my best, and I am a better footballer than I was last year.”
This young talent, who made his professional debut at the age of 15 with Norwegian club Rosenborg and was selected for the Norwegian national team last October, had received offers from numerous top clubs. However, he revealed that Manchester City's trust and long-term plans impressed him.
Meanwhile, the care and support from his teammate Erling Haaland made Nipan feel at home. Regarding the spotlight that came with early fame, Nipan admitted that it was difficult to adapt at first, but now he has learned to adjust his mindset and focus on enjoying the joy of football on the pitch.
