Back then, the Journey to the West series of products were bestsellers, with Sun Wukong as the protagonist. The epic quality products sold very well. Zhu Bajie and Zhu Wuneng were event rewards. The remaining ones were Zhen Ji, the Queen of the Women's Kingdom, and Gongsun Li, the Jade Rabbit Princess. Jin Chan quickly followed Tang Sanzang. Only Ao Yin remained until the Year of the Dragon, tagged as a point-based hero and a professional marksman.
The image of the six-eared monkey is unknown, and its backstory is unclear.
Why is the discussion of Journey to the West being brought up again when the mage is being ignored? The reason is that the new character for Season 44 will be Six-Eared Macaque, a hero with a Chinese cultural theme. Some players are confused about his backstory; his design is strikingly similar to Sun Wukong. What connection could he possibly have with Tang Sanzang or Zhu Bajie? Since both are modeled after monkeys, what's puzzling is why the developers didn't just copy Sha Wujing? Would they rather create a corrupted version of Sun Wukong, or even twins?
The release of Sha Wujing was initially announced, but the plan was later postponed indefinitely.
After Liu Er's arrival, he will undoubtedly ride on the popularity of Sun Wukong. The rivalry or brotherhood setting will more easily arouse players' competitive spirit. Seeing teammates or opponents pick any of them, players will subconsciously want to join in the fun. Is Sha Wujing really unlikable? Complaining is allowed, but don't be a difficult customer and complain in the comments section. After all, from beginning to end, Honor of Kings has never promised to bring all the Journey to the West characters into the game. Even since the game's launch, several heroes have been designed based on ancient history and fantasy novels. The main characters have already appeared. The remaining supporting characters, changed to skins, are missing disciples, which is regrettable. Imagine if all five players in a team picked Journey to the West characters: Sun Wukong as the jungler, Zhu Bajie as the tank, Jin Chan as the support, and Ao Yin as the marksman. The absence of Sha Wujing would perfectly make up for the lack of mages.
Despite this, there's not much to be discouraged. The official team once released a short video called "Journey to the West Team Recruitment," which had an Easter egg at the end. To put it simply, it was about the promise with Sha Wujing, foreshadowing his appearance. However, it was later dropped, or the release plan changed. The three heroes with Chinese cultural themes, Yu the Great, first arrived in the Rift in Season 42, and the Season 43 slot was reserved for Yuanliu Assassin. The remaining two seasons were filled by Liu Er and Wang Wei, thus ending a season.
