Friendly Match – Olise scores a hat-trick, France defeats Northern Ireland 3-1 at home

On June 8th local time, France hosted Northern Ireland at Pierre Mauroy Stadium. Thanks to a hat-trick from Michael Olisse, they ultimately won 3-1 in their pre-World Cup friendly.

France started the first half strong. In the 9th minute, Theo Hernandez played a through ball from the edge of the box, but Kylian Mbappé's curling shot went wide to the right. In the 10th minute, Northern Ireland's defense made a mistake under pressure from Aurelien Choameni and others, allowing Desiree Duet to break through and unleash a long-range shot that was saved by Piers Charles. In the 14th minute, Olise played a precise through ball, but Mbappé's shot inside the box was again saved by Charles.

In the 15th minute, Northern Ireland finally managed their first shot of the match: Isaac Price made a long pass from midfield, and Patrick Kelly broke through on the right wing before unleashing a shot that went just wide. In the 20th minute, Due's cross assisted Mbappe's finish, but the linesman raised his flag for offside.

Despite the disallowed goal, France continued their relentless attack. In the 24th minute, Olisse unleashed a long-range shot from outside the penalty area, but Charles made the save. The second half began with both sides switching ends. In the 49th minute, France further extended their lead: Theo Hernandez's header inside the penalty area was blocked by a combined effort from Terreux Hume and Brody Spencer, but Olisse followed up with a powerful shot to score again. In the 56th minute, Theo Hernandez crossed from the left wing, but Mbappe's shot went wildly over the bar. In the 63rd minute, Adrien Rabiot cut the ball back from the left side of the penalty area, but Maxence Lacroix's shot from the center also went high.

In the 64th minute, Shay Charles crossed from the left side of the penalty area, and Kelly finished the move to pull one back for Northern Ireland. In the 73rd minute, Olise played a through ball from the edge of the penalty area, and Mbappe's shot went just wide. In the 74th minute, Marlo Gusto passed the ball to the right wing, and Olise cut inside and fired a long-range shot to complete his hat-trick.

Neither side managed to score again. At the final whistle, France defeated Northern Ireland 3-1 at home.
