Birmingham City have announced that they have officially signed John Thurlis to a four-year contract.

Birmingham City have officially confirmed the completion of the signing of Colombian midfielder John Solis from Girona. In accordance with the buy-out clause in his previous loan agreement, the club has made the transfer permanent, and the player will officially join the team on July 1st, signing a four-year contract.

John Solis was born in 2004 in Guaccari, Colombia. In the summer of 2023, he joined Girona from Colombian powerhouse Atlético Nacional. Relying on his excellent physical attributes and midfield ability, he is considered a promising young star.

John Solis joined Birmingham City on loan in January and quickly established himself, impressing and becoming a key member of the midfield. He made 18 appearances in all competitions, scoring his first goal for the club against Bristol City, helping them achieve their best league result in nearly a decade.

John Solis has garnered attention for his outstanding tackling ability, aggressive playing style, and solid technical fundamentals. Despite his young age, he already possesses considerable professional experience and has adapted well to the intensity and pace of the Championship.

This Colombian midfielder developed through Atlético Nacional's youth academy, winning the 2022 Spring League title and the 2023 Super Cup with the team. In the summer of 2023, he transferred to Girona, where he made 61 official appearances, including Champions League matches against top teams such as Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool, and Arsenal.

Birmingham City stated that John Solis's performances during his loan spell have fully demonstrated his ability and potential, leading the club to trigger the buy-out clause. He will continue to play for the team and help them strive for higher goals.
