Switzerland will face a strong Canada in the third round of Group B in the 2026 World Cup. Head coach Jakin said that the team has different lineup options, so John Manzambi can start or come on as a substitute.
In the last round, Switzerland defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-1, securing an important 3 points, thanks to two goals from substitute Johan Manzambi, as well as goals from Ruben Vargas and Xhaka. Switzerland currently sits second in Group B, level on points with first-placed Canada.
Swiss coach Jakim said, "For me, Johan Manzambi can be a starter or a substitute. I have many different options, so even within the team, we won't know who will be in the starting lineup until tomorrow."
"If we can finish first in our group, we'll get a few extra days to recover, which is always an advantage, and our opponents understand that."
Yakin pointed out, "We'll see how things develop after the game starts tomorrow, because Canada will be a very strong opponent and they will give us a lot of trouble."
"We'll see what the final result is later. Of course, we hope to win. As the head coach, victory is always one of the most important goals."
In addition, Canada head coach Jesse Mash said of John Manzamby, "I think John Manzamby has also had a very good season at the club level. We have been watching him and believe that he will play an increasingly important role in Switzerland in the future."
“Several young players in the Swiss squad are developing alongside experienced players, and Johan Manzambi is one of them. Whether he starts or comes off the bench tomorrow, we will be prepared for the impact he may have on the game. He is an extremely talented player and has a very bright future.”
