Nottingham Forest completes contract extension with Belgium international goalkeeper Matz Sels..

Nottingham Forest announced on their official website on Saturday that they have extended the contract of its Belgium international goalkeeper Matz Sels.

According to Nottingham Forest's official statement, Sels has signed on a new short-term two-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2028.

About Matz Sels

The 34-year-old Matz Sels was born on February 26, 1992, in Lint, Belgium. He is 1.88 meters tall and plays as a goalkeeper.

Sels joined Lierse' youth academy at the age of seven and made his first-team debut in July 2012.

In 2014, Sels moved to Gent for €1 million.

During his two-year spell at Gent, Sels won one Jupiler Pro League title and one Belgian Cup.

In the summer of 2016, Sels joined Newcastle United for £6.5 million. However, due to poor performance, Sels quickly lost his place in the team. Nevertheless, he still won the EFL Championship title with the club.

The following summer, Sels was loaned to-out Anderlecht. During his time there, he won the Belgian Super Cup.

In July 2018, Sels joined Strasbourg for £3.5 million.

During his five-and-a-half-year spell at Strasbourg, Sels won the Coupe de la Ligue once.

On the 2024 winter transfer window deadline day, Sels joined Nottingham Forest for £5.1 million.

Since joining Forest, Sels has so far made 96 appearances for the Premier League club in all competitions, conceding 125 goals and keeping 23 clean sheets, where he helped the team surprisingly reach the UEFA Europa League semi-finals once and won the Premier League Golden Glove once.
