Gary Trent signed a four-year, $64 million contract extension to stay with the Bucks.

According to Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul and his agent, Gary Trent Jr. will sign a four-year, $64 million contract to continue playing for the Milwaukee Bucks.

Trent spent the last two seasons in Milwaukee, where he averaged 9.7 points per game with a 41% field goal percentage, including 39% from three-point range. He joined the Bucks in the summer of 2024 on a league minimum contract and then signed a two-year, $7.5 million extension before the start of last season.

This summer, Trent opted out of his player option, becoming a free agent again and ultimately securing this lucrative long-term contract. Prior to this extension, Trent had received interest from several teams.

Sources revealed that Trent had been in talks with other potential buyers about a sign-and-trade deal before making the final decision to return to Milwaukee.

Because Trent had previously signed consecutive contracts with the Bucks, the team possessed his "Bird rights," which allowed them to bypass salary cap restrictions and re-sign him. According to salary experts, Trent's salary in the first year of his new contract will reach $15.2 million.

Within the Bucks, Trent will face extremely fierce competition from his teammates. The Bucks' backcourt is currently very crowded. The team acquired Tyler Herro and Caris LeVert through trades, and their roster already includes Ryan Rollins and Kevin Porter Jr., and they selected young player Braden Boris with the 10th overall pick in this year's draft. Trent will need to use his outside shooting ability to earn more playing time in the rotation.
