Alex McCarthy: I'm very happy to join Leicester City, it's a fantastic club.

Leicester City's new goalkeeper Alex McCarthy has stated his desire to utilize his years of experience to provide more support for the team's goalkeeping position and to face the challenges of the new season alongside his teammates. The 36-year-old English goalkeeper has officially joined the club, signing a contract until 2028. He becomes Leicester City's second new signing announced that day and will play for the team in League One next season.

Speaking about joining Leicester City, Alex McCarthy said: "I am very excited to join a club like Leicester City. In the past few days, I have started to integrate into the new environment, completed the relevant medical procedures, communicated with the medical team, and visited the training ground to learn more about it."

“I have already met with some of the coaching staff and other personnel, and I look forward to connecting with all my teammates as soon as possible. From what I understand, this is a very promising young team, with young players who are full of motivation and competitiveness. From everything I have learned so far, I have a thorough understanding of the club's history and its goals and requirements. Therefore, I am very happy to be here at Leicester City, which is a very good club.”

Speaking highly of Leicester City's training facilities, Alex McCarthy said, "The training ground here is excellent, with all the conditions a team needs. I understand the club has clear goals for the new season, and it's an exciting plan. I can't wait to start training and hope to participate in more activities tomorrow to get to my best as soon as possible."

“Before joining, I had already communicated with the head coach and understood the direction he wanted the team to take, which made me very excited. I previously worked with him at Southampton and have some understanding of his football philosophy and coaching style, which was a very enjoyable experience. I am very happy to be able to work under his leadership again now.”

Alex McCarthy, with extensive experience in the English professional leagues, expressed his hope to use his match experience to help young goalkeepers develop and promote the overall improvement of the team's goalkeeping staff. He said, "I have played against Yakub Stolarczyk many times over the past few years. This morning, I also trained with several young goalkeepers, who are all very good players with a strong desire to learn and improve. Training with them has been a great experience for me."

“I’ve had a few conversations with goalkeeping coach Tom Weir before, hoping that we can build a united and competitive goalkeeping team together. Ultimately, we all have the same goal. Now I have more professional experience and have experienced many different challenges, but I still remember myself when I was younger. I always took the initiative to learn from experienced goalkeepers and hoped to get help from them to continue to grow.”

“I’ve always been willing to help young players grow, and I’ll do my best to share my experience as long as it can help them. Of course, it’s up to them whether they ultimately accept these suggestions, but I’m always willing to communicate and provide support whenever they encounter any problems.”
