The Suns officially announced Bridges' signing; management responded to off-court controversies.
2026-07-23 11:50July 23 - According to the Associated Press, the Phoenix Suns recently held a press conference to officially introduce new addition Miles Bridges to the team. However, compared to his basketball skills, the outside world is more concerned about his past off - court controversies involving domestic violence.
Bridges stated at the press conference that he understands the reservations some fans have about his joining the team and is willing to bear the consequences of his past actions.
“ I will take responsibility for my actions. I have received psychological counseling and treatment. Now, the most important thing is to strive to be a better person, not only on the court, but more importantly off the court, ” Bridges said.
Suns general manager Brian Gregory stated that the team conducted a careful evaluation before making the trade decision. Although Bridges' past behavior was " unacceptable , " the team believes he has grown and that he needs to regain the trust of fans through his actions.
The Suns acquired Bridges in a trade on June 28 , along with a 2029 first - round pick and a 2027 second-round pick, in exchange for Grayson Allen , Royce O'Neal , and a 2033 first-round pick.
Last season, Bridges averaged 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game for the Hornets , combining wing defense, multi-position switching defense and rebounding ability.
Gregory stated, " His toughness, defense, and competitive spirit fit perfectly into the team culture, and he brings more resilience to the team. "
Bridges also stated that his first priority is to gain the approval of his new teammates. " I want to earn their trust first, make the locker room comfortable, and make everyone willing to fight alongside me. That's very important, " he said.
