Ipswich Town has officially announced the signing of Sasha Lukic, with a contract running until 2030.

Ipswich Town have officially announced the signing of Fulham midfielder Saša Lukic. The 29-year-old Serbian player will join Ipswich for the new season; the exact transfer fee has not yet been disclosed. According to the agreement, Lukic has signed a long-term contract with the club, running until the summer of 2030.  

With this signing, he becomes Ipswich Town's eighth acquisition during this summer transfer window. However, the deal is not yet complete, and the player still needs to wait for his visa to be finalized.  

Sasha Lukic has accumulated considerable experience in top European competitions, boasting a high number of appearances in both club and international matches. During his time at Fulham, the Serbian midfielder made over 100 official appearances, including nearly 100 in the Premier League. Prior to that, he played for Torino in Serie A for seven seasons and had a brief stint in La Liga, his career spanning numerous top European leagues.  

During his several seasons with Torino, Sasha Lukic gradually established himself in the team's midfield and became an important member of the squad. He made 168 appearances for Torino, contributing 14 goals. Early in his career, Lukic also spent time in La Liga during the 2017/18 season on loan at Levante.  

In January 2023, he ended his Italian football career and joined Fulham. In the half-season after joining, Sasha Lukic quickly integrated into the team, making 13 appearances and helping the team finish the season in 10th place in the Premier League.  

After joining Fulham, Saša Lucic gradually established himself as a key player in the team's midfield, playing three full seasons in West London. During that time, he made 106 appearances for Fulham in all competitions. With Lucic's continued impact in midfield, Fulham consistently finished in the mid-table of the Premier League for several seasons. For Ipswich Town, about to embark on a new phase, Lucic's extensive experience in the Premier League was undoubtedly a crucial factor in the club's decision to sign the Serbian midfielder.  

Ipswich Town manager Gary O'Neill commented on the signing, stating that Sasha Lukic's extensive experience will be a significant asset to the team. The Serbian midfielder has accumulated considerable experience in the Premier League, understands how to handle the intensity and competitive environment of top-flight matches, and demonstrated consistent form during his time at Fulham.  

After joining Ipswich Town, Sasha Lukic also spoke about his anticipation for the new chapter, saying, "I am very proud to be a part of this club. I know that the team has a rich history and a very passionate group of supporters, and I am very much looking forward to starting this new experience."  

“During my previous Premier League season, I traveled with the team to Portman Road for away games, and the atmosphere there left a very deep impression on me. It’s one of the best stadium atmospheres I’ve ever experienced in my career. Now, I’m looking forward to playing here for Ipswich Town in a different capacity.”  

Saša Lucic has made 62 appearances for Serbia at the national team level, including appearances at the 2022 Qatar World Cup and the 2024 European Championship in Germany. When discussing his playing style, Lucic describes himself as a well-rounded midfielder, capable of playing multiple roles and giving his all on every pitch. Now, this experienced Serbian midfielder is about to begin his career in Ipswich, hoping to use his experience and ability to help the team compete in the new season.
