Ben Simmons has recovered his fitness and will participate in the Australian men's basketball mini-camp.

August 10th - According to ESPN , free agent Ben Simmons is expected to participate in the Australian men's basketball team's self-organized mini-camp in Melbourne this week.

The 30- year-old Simmons missed the entire 2025-26 season due to back and other injuries, hoping to fully recover his physical condition. After being waived by the Nets in February 2025, Simmons joined the Clippers, playing 18 regular season games and 5 playoff games.

Ben Simmons' godfather, Australian men's basketball assistant coach David Patrick, said that Simmons' athleticism has recovered and he is currently training mainly in Miami. This training camp was organized by the player himself, and Simmons even paid for his own trip to Melbourne to participate.

Born in Melbourne, Simmons hopes to represent Australia at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. He represented Australia at the 2013 FIBA Oceania Championship at the age of 17 , but has since missed three consecutive Olympic Games.

Simmons was the number one overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft and the 2018 Rookie of the Year. He was a three-time All-Star, a member of the All-NBA Third Team in 2020, and a two-time All-Defensive First Team selection. However, injuries severely hampered his career, and he hasn't played more than 60 games in a single season since the 2018-19 season.
