Dunleavy on Curry's contract extension: My intention to spend my entire career with the Warriors has never changed.

August 12th - According to ESPN , Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy reiterated his confidence in Stephen Curry 's potential retirement with the team. He stated that Curry's previous message remains unchanged.

Curry's current contract , worth $ 62.5 million, expires after the 2026-27 season. He will become eligible for a contract extension starting August 29th , potentially signing a two- year, $ 136.7 million deal. Curry has previously stated his desire to play at least a few more seasons and finish his career with the Warriors.

“ He really craves victory and wants to finish his career as a Warrior, ” Dunleavy said. He also stated that if Curry requests a trade, the team would respect his decision, but neither side is currently considering that possibility.

Last season, Curry was hampered by a right knee injury and only played 43 games. This summer, the Warriors restructured their roster around their core players and re-signed Draymond Green, Kristaps Porzingis , Al Horford , De'Anthony Melton , and Gary Payton II.

Dunleavy stated that the team's goal for the new season is to return to the playoffs. If Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody can return healthy, and the Warriors can utilize their roster flexibility to strengthen the team mid-season, they still have a chance to re-enter the championship contention.
