Mainz 05 officially triggered Como defender Stefan Posch's buy-out clause..

Mainz 05 announced on their official website on Wednesday that they had triggered the buy-out clause of on-loan Como defender Stefan Posch.
According to Sky Sports' resident renowned German transfer journalister Florian Plettenberg, Mainz paid €4 million to sign Posch. Due to a confidentiality agreement, the club and the media outlets will not disclose the Posch's contract length.
After completing his transfer procedures, Posch, who was interviewed by the Mainz official website again, said: "Although the competitive environment during the winter was very difficult, I realized that Mainz 05 was a perfect fit for me. We immediately clicked. I'm happy to continue being a part of this team and I'm really looking forward to the new season."
"The squad has been working well since the winter break, and now we have several strong players joining us. I feel very comfortable here and am excited for the new season! But obviously, we won't get anything without hard work next year; we must strive to achieve our goals. Let's get started!"
About Stefan Posch
The 29-year-old Posch was born on May 14, 1997, in Judenburg, Austria. He is 1.90 meters tall and primarily plays as a center-back, but can also play as a right-back.
Posch played for the Sturm Graz youth academy as a child, and joined the Admira Wacker youth academy in 2011, before fstarting to play for its reserve team three years later.
In the summer of 2015, Posch joined Hoffenheim, initially playing for their reserve team before making his first-team debut in a Europa League match in September 2017.
During his four-year spell at Hoffenheim, Posch helped the club reach the DFB-Pokal Round of 16s twice.
In the summer of 2022, Posch joined Bologna on-loan, with his buy-out clause later triggered.
During his two-and-a-half-year spell at I Veltri, Posch helped the club win the Coppa Italia once.
In February 2025, Posch was loaned-out to Atalanta, and that summer, he joined Como for €3 million.
During his six-month spell at Como, Posch helped the Serie A club reach the Coppa Italia semi-finals.
In the summer of 2026, Posch joined Mainz on-loan with an option to buy.
Since joining Die Nullfünfer, Posch has so far made 20 appearances for the Bundesliga club in all competitions, scoring 2 goals.
