Getafe announced on their official website on Friday that Lyon's Belgium international defensive midfielder Orel Mangala has joined the club on-loan.
According to the La Liga club's official statement, Mangala will play for the club on-loan until the end of the new season, and the loan agreement does not include any option to buy.
About Orel Mangala
The 28-year-old Orel Mangala was born on March 18, 1998, in Brussels, Belgium. He is 1.78 meters tall, plays as a defensive midfielder, and holds dual Belgian and Democratic Republic of Congo citizenship.
Mangala joined the Anderlecht youth academy at a young age, and also had a brief loan spell at Borussia Dortmund's youth academy.
In July 2017, Mangala moved to Stuttgart for €1.8 million, and completed his Stuttgart first-team debut in August of the same year.
The following August, Mangala was loaned-out to Hamburg. Upon returning from his loan spell in the summer of 2019, he officially became a regular starter for the Stuttgart first-team.
During his five-year spell with Die Schwaben, Mangala earned numerous praises for his outstanding performances.
In late July 2022, Mangala joined Nottingham Forest for £17 million.
On the 2024 winter transfer window deadline day, Mangala joined Lyon on-loan, with his buy-out clause triggered that summer.
Shortly after joining Lyon, Mangala was loaned-out to Everton.
Upon returning from the loan spell in late August 2024, Mangala began playing for Lyon's first-team, but injuries limited his appearances.
Since becoming a member of Les Gones, Mangala has so far made 27 appearances for the Ligue 1 powerhouse in all competitions, scoring 2 goals.
