Elche permanent bought out on-loan Dinamo Zagreb Spanish midfielder Gonzalo Villar's ownership rights..


Elche announced on their official website on Sunday that they have officially permanently acquired the rights of on-loan Dinamo Zagreb Spanish midfielder Gonzalo Villar.


According to Elche's official statement, Villar has signed on a three-year contract with the club which runs until the summer of 2029.


About Gonzalo Villar


The 28-year-old Villar was born on March 23, 1998, in Murcia, Spain. He is 1.81 meters tall and primarily plays as a center midfielder, but can also play as an attacking midfielder or defensive midfielder.


Villar joined Elche's youth academy at the age of 11 and began playing for their B team in January 2015.


That summer, Villar moved to Valencia, but only played for their youth and B teams.


In July 2018, Villar returned to Elche for €2.75 million.


In January 2020, Villar joined Roma for €4 million.


During his two-year spell with I Giallorossi, Villar won the UEFA Conference League title once.


He also spent time on-loan at Sampdoria and twice on-loan at Getafe.


In the summer of 2023, Villar joined Granada for €1.8 million.


In the summer of 2025, Villar joined Dinamo Zagreb for €3 million.


During his time there, he helped the team complete a Croatian First League and Croatian Cup double.


In January 2026, Villar returned to Elche for the third time on-loan with an option to buy.


As an Elche player, so far, Villar has made 51 appearances for the La Liga club in all competitions, scoring 3 goals and providing 1 assist.
