Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Andy Robertson will officially join the team after his contract with Liverpool expires.

Tottenham Hotspur are delighted to announce that Andy Robertson has agreed to join the club. The experienced and charismatic Scottish captain will officially become a Tottenham player when his contract with Liverpool expires on July 1.

Club sporting director John Langer said: "We are delighted to welcome Andy Robertson to the team. He is an outstanding left-back, arguably one of the best left-backs in Premier League history, and his arrival will immediately enhance our overall squad strength."

"In addition, his technical skills, professionalism, character and leadership have been fully demonstrated throughout his career, and he has won and competed for many important honors."

“Andy Robertson’s professionalism and dedication are also very important for the development of our young players. He is fully aligned with the club’s ambitions and the goal is to bring success to the team. We are very much looking forward to him starting this new phase of his career and officially joining him after the World Cup.”

Head coach Roberto De Zerbi said: "Andy Robertson is a player I've been following for a long time. He will bring top-level technical ability, a wealth of experience, leadership, and a strong mentality to the team. He is a winner who has been successful at the highest level for many years and can have a huge impact not only on the field but also off the field. I look forward to working with him and seeing the positive impact he will have on the team."

This illustrious player will begin a new chapter in his career after ending a nine-year stint at Liverpool. Andy Robertson began his professional career in 2012 with the Scottish amateur team Queens Park Rangers, and has since progressed steadily to the highest levels of football in England, Europe, and internationally.

He began his professional career at Dundee United, winning the PFA Scottish Young Player of the Year award in his debut season. He then transferred to Hull City, helping the team achieve promotion to the Premier League in 2016. In 2017, he joined Liverpool, beginning a illustrious career where he won almost every major honor.

He reached the Champions League final three times, winning the trophy in the 2018/19 season. He then helped Liverpool win the Premier League, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup, completing a domestic treble in 2022 (FA Cup, League Cup, Community Shield). In 2025, he won the Premier League title again, further solidifying his trophy record.

Andy Robertson was a recognized leader in the dressing room and was appointed vice-captain of Liverpool before leaving. As captain of the Scottish national team, he wore the captain's armband continuously from 2018, leading the team to the 2020 and 2024 European Championships and successfully guiding them to qualify for this summer's World Cup, marking Scotland's first return to the competition this century.
