June 7th - With the New York Knicks taking a 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals, the race for Finals MVP has shifted. According to the latest NBA rankings, Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns has risen to the top of the list thanks to his consistent and well-rounded performance.
Towns averaged 19.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 4 assists per game in the Finals. His shooting efficiency was outstanding, with 56% from two-point range, 43% from three-point range, and 100% from the free-throw line. He was also consistent in high-post playmaking and organization, recording double-doubles in both games.
Second on the list is Jalen Brunson. Brunson averaged 25 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists per game, but his shooting was somewhat inconsistent, making only 19 of 56 attempts. However, he still demonstrated his ability to decide games in crucial moments, hitting key points in the fourth quarter of both games.
Spurs' star Victor Wimbledon is ranked third. Wimbledon averaged 27.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks. However, the team's 0-2 deficit makes his chances of winning the Finals MVP more difficult.
In addition, Spurs rookie Dylan Harper ranked fourth, and Knicks forward OG Anunoby ranked fifth. With the series moving to New York, the Finals MVP race remains undecided.
