Freiburg officially announced on Thursday that Japanese striker Keisuke Goto has transferred from Anderlecht. As is customary, neither side disclosed the contract length or related details.
Keisuke Goto's contract with Anderlecht was originally set to expire in 2028. According to multiple media reports, his transfer fee, including bonuses, was approximately between €11 million and €13 million.
Regarding the signing, Freiburg Sport CEO Jochen Sel commented: "We are delighted to sign Keisuke, a dynamic and incredibly promising player. His fearless style of play will inject new energy into the team. He is passionate about making forward runs, possesses excellent spatial awareness, and knows how to operate in the penalty area. He needs some time to adapt and continue to grow, but he will certainly get enough time. We are very happy to have him as a member of our team!"
Keisuke Goto, 21, debuted with Jubilo Iwata and joined Anderlecht on a loan-to-buy deal in January 2024. During his time at Anderlecht, he made only 10 appearances.
In August 2025, Keisuke Goto was loaned from Anderlecht to Sint-Truiden. To date, he has made 40 appearances for Sint-Truiden, scoring 13 goals and providing 8 assists.
After completing the transfer, Keisuke Goto said, "Freiburg showed great interest in me a few months ago. I felt the club's desire for me from the beginning, which was one of the main reasons I decided to join Freiburg."
“I’ve been following Freiburg’s Europa League matches,” he added. “Freiburg is a great club for me, and I’m really looking forward to the upcoming season.”
It's worth mentioning that Keisuke Goto is a member of the Japanese national team for this World Cup. His World Cup journey with Japan will officially begin on June 14th, with their opponents being the Netherlands, Tunisia, and Sweden in Group F.
