MOVISTAR KOI intends to return to the professional Counter Strike 2 esports scene..

HLTV citing a report from Spanish newspaper Marca on Sunday that Ibai, owner of the Spanish esports powerhouse MOVISTAR KOI, recently confirmed in an interview that the club intends to form a team to return to the professional Counter Strike 2 (CS2) esports scene.

According to the report, Ibai did not give a specific timeline for the return of the new MOVISTAR KOI CS2 team, but he admitted that he hopes to finalize the team's formation plan during this summer's season.

Ibai said, "We will definitely strive to join the Counter Strike 2 (CS2) esports scene, without a doubt. Hopefully, this summer or later, we can join both CS2 and Valorant esports scenes simultaneously. We will definitely give it our all, without a doubt."

MOVISTAR KOI was previously active in the CS esports scene when they were founded in 2017 as MOVISTAR Riders. Later, the team merged with MAD LIONS and Splyce to form MOVISTAR KOI, and participated in the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024.

After being acquired at the end of 2024, the MOVISTAR KOI roster was taken by Gentle Mates. Since then, the club has experienced a prolonged hiatus in the CS2 esports scene.

Despite this, MOVISTAR KOI's League of Legends division continues to operate normally, even achieving a remarkable third-place finish in the recent LEC Versus and Spring Split.
