César Pescotto has officially become the head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers, signing a two-year contract.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have officially appointed César Pescotto from Portugal as their new manager. A two-year contract has been signed, but the appointment is still pending approval of his work permit.

César Pesciotto has always enjoyed a good reputation in Portuguese football. Last season, while managing Gil Vicente, he led the team to a sixth-place finish in the Portuguese league. A former Portuguese international, he had a playing career spanning over two decades, winning numerous trophies and being part of José Mourinho's Champions League- winning squad for Porto. After retiring as a player, he shifted his focus to coaching.

Speaking about the new manager's appointment, Wolves Executive Chairman Shi Yu said: "We are very excited about the arrival of Cesar Pescotto. After meeting him, we quickly realized that he possesses many qualities that align with the club's future vision. We need a coach who can shape a clear playing philosophy, lead the team to continuous improvement, and always maintain a competitive spirit, and he perfectly meets these requirements. In addition, his professionalism, sense of responsibility, and determination to overcome challenges have also impressed me. "

“He possesses the energy and drive of a young coach, along with a clear mind and a strong drive to succeed. He is not only eager to accept challenges but also willing to help those around him grow. We believe he is a perfect fit for the team culture and future blueprint that Wolves are currently building.”

Speaking about his appointment, César Pesciotto said, "I am incredibly proud to be at such a historic and respected club. This is a rare opportunity, and I am ready to take on the challenge and do my best to lead the team back to its rightful place."

“There are many excellent players in the team, but in my opinion they still have room for further growth, and I also hope to improve my own abilities in this job. My goal is to bring my football philosophy into the team, shape a distinctive playing style, and help the team continue to develop. This is also an important platform to showcase my coaching philosophy and tactical thinking.”

“Wolves are a very good club. For me, the way the team plays should reflect the characteristics of the fans and the city. It is a city known for its hard work, energy and passion, so I hope the team can show the same spirit and make the fans enjoy the game with an energetic performance.”

"The direction of development is crucial. Wolves are a competitive team in the Championship, and we know we must win games and play well. However, at the same time, we also need to establish a distinctive attacking system and build the team from a fresh perspective, which is a concept that I and the club management agree on."

“Pre-season preparation will play a decisive role. The Championship is very competitive and the schedule is very tight. If we can build up good physical reserves in the pre-season and help the players understand my tactical requirements, the team will be able to enter the new season in better condition.”

“Everyone at the club must come together. This includes not only me and the players, but also the coaching staff, backstage personnel, and all members. Only when everyone works together can the team remain competitive throughout the season, and not just win games occasionally. The Championship is a long and tough season, and we need everyone's help to achieve the desired results.”
