Real Madrid officially announce the signing of Chelsea's Spain international left wing-back Marc Cucurella..

Real Madrid announced on their official website on Monday that they have signed Chelsea's Spain international left wing-back Marc Cucurella.

According to Real Madrid's official statement, Cucurella has signed on a long-term six-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2032. His release clause is set at €1 billion, in accordance with La Liga's official regulations.

Furthermore, according to Relevo's resident renowned Italian transfer journalist Matteo Moretto, Los Blancos paid €55 million to the Blues to sign Cucurella, not including €5 million in performance-related bonuses.

It's worth mentioning that Cucurella, being a native of Barcelona and a product of the La Masia youth academy, will likely face a somewhat awkward position in the eyes of both Barcelona and Real Madrid fans.

About Marc Cucurella

The 27-year-old Cucurella was born on July 22, 1998, in Alella, Catalonia, Spain. He is1.74 meters tall and plays as a left wing-back, but also capable of playing as a left-back.

A highly talented player, Cucurella began playing for Barcelona B that same year before completing his Barcelona first-team debut in the Copa del Rey against Real Murcia at the end of October the following year. During this spell, he helped the team win the Copa del Rey title in the 2018/19 season.

From the summer of 2019, Cucurella was successfully loaned-out to Eibar and Getafe, with his ownership rights being permanently bought out by the latter in the summer of 2020.

On the 2021 summer transfer window deadline day, Cucurella joined Brighton for £15 million. During his time with the Seagulls, Cucurella was highly praised for his excellent attacking and defensive transition abilities.

The following August, Cucurella moved to Chelsea for £63 million, breaking record to become one of the most expensive full-backs in football history.

During his four-year spell with the Blues, Cucurella made 163 appearances for the Premier League giants in all competitions, scoring 9 goals and providing 13 assists, where he has helped the team win one UEFA Conferece League title and one FIFA Club World Cup, as well as reaching the FA Cup final once.
