The Athletic's resident renowned English transfer journalist, reported on Tuesday that Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton have reached an agreement for the transfer of Netherlands international center-back Jan Paul van Hecke.
According to Ornstein, after two initial offers were rejected, Brighton finally accepted Spurs' third bid.
Under the agreement, Spurs will pay £52 million to the Seagulls to sign van Hecke, who will complete his medical and signing during his time in the United States while participating in the World Cup.
Ornstein added that Brighton had also submitted two offers for Spurs' wonderkid Luka Vušković, with the second offer reaching as high as £35 million, but both offers were rejected.
If the transfer of van Hecke goes through, the Netherlands international defender will become Tottenham Hotspur's third defender signing this summer.
Previously, Spurs had also signed Argentina international defender Marco Sennesi and former Liverpool legendary vice-captain and Scotland international left wing-back Andy Robertson on free transfers.
