Newcastle United reject Tottenham's £80 million bid for Tonali

According to media reports, Newcastle United quickly rejected a blockbuster offer from Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week, which was for around £80 million in an attempt to sign Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali.
26-year-old Tonali is Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi's top transfer target this summer. After helping Tottenham avoid relegation in the Premier League, De Zerbi is now working on rebuilding the team.
To fulfill its commitment to significant investment and support for De Zerbi, Tottenham's management has decided to spend heavily in the transfer market, with the signing of Tonali being a key step in demonstrating their ambition. Tottenham urgently needs to improve the team's technical and tactical capabilities this summer and bring in a central midfielder capable of controlling the tempo of the game.
Three years ago, Tonali transferred from AC Milan to Newcastle United for £55 million. He currently has three years remaining on his contract with Newcastle, with the club also having an option to extend it for another year.
Despite Newcastle United's immediate rejection of Tottenham's offer, Tonali's future at the club remains uncertain. Media reports in April indicated that Tonali, along with teammates Anthony Gordon and Livermore, hoped to leave this summer for new challenges.
Meanwhile, Tottenham will face fierce competition in their pursuit of Tonali. Premier League giants Manchester City have also expressed strong interest in the Italian midfielder, and are currently also pursuing Nottingham Forest's England international Elliott Anderson.
