Cristiano Ronaldo provisionally suspended by the Portuguese Football Federation..

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) announced on its official website on Saturday that it has decided to impose a provisional suspension on Cristiano Ronaldo after he left the national team camp without authorization following a heated dispute with head coach Jorge Jesus.

According to the FPF's official statement, the federation maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding any player who intentionally misses or leaves the national team camp without permission during international duties. The federation insists on treating all players equally, regardless of their stature.

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) reserves the right to impose penalties, ranging from a one-to-six-month suspension to a fine, or both, on any player who violates this code of conduct.

The federation issued the suspension order to Ronaldo on October 9, treating the matter as "urgent".

Following the announcement, reporters from the Portuguese newspaper Record contacted the FPF. Federation President Pedro Proença responded: "We need to remain calm and composed. We are currently in discussions."

"Everyone is very keen to have the captain return to the squad. Disciplinary proceedings will now follow standard procedure."

The 41-year-old captain, Ronaldo, stormed out of the national team camp and returned to Saudi Arabia after being left on the bench during a September Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) match against Norway, and subsequently being asked to warm up for over 30 minutes—only to be denied a substitution—during the following match against Denmark.

After the incident, he posted a lengthy statement on social media lashing out at Jorge Jesus, accusing the coach of "betraying him" twice and stating that he had "lost trust" in him.

However, Ronaldo also acknowledged that he would take full accountability for his actions and apologized to his teammates and fans. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner also pledged not to retire, as he remains committed to pursuing the record of scoring 1,000 career goals.

Since the incident, Ronaldo has played for his club Al-Nassr.

During that Saudi Pro League match against Al-Diriyah, he also scored the 980th goal of his professional career.
