Eddie Howe steps down as Newcastle United manager, Jaissler is expected to take over.

Newcastle United are undergoing a major personnel change as manager Eddie Howe has decided to leave immediately, ending his nearly five-year tenure at St. James' Park.

Currently, Al Ahli's head coach, Matthias Jaissler, the young German coach, is considered the most likely candidate to succeed him.

Last season, Newcastle United's poor performance, finishing only 12th in the Premier League, put Howe under considerable pressure. However, the core reason for his departure was his passivity in transfer decisions in recent months, as well as the turmoil caused by the successive sales of key players.

According to sources, Howe expressed his intention to leave to the club's management two weeks ago, stating that he felt exhausted and that his coaching cycle had come to an end, and he hoped to temporarily step away from football. Although the management tried to persuade him to stay, they ultimately respected his decision, and Howe agreed to continue in his position during the transition period while a replacement was being sought.

The 38-year-old Jaissler led Red Bull Salzburg to an Austrian double and won two AFC Champions League titles while managing Al-Ahli. Since Al-Ahli and Newcastle United are both under the Saudi Public Investment Authority (PIF), negotiations between the two sides have progressed rapidly, and the departure process is not expected to encounter any obstacles.

Despite a bitter 1-4 defeat to Bristol City in the preseason, Eddie Howe's achievements will be remembered. During his tenure, he not only led the team to the Champions League twice, but also lifted the League Cup last year, ending the club's 70-year drought of domestic titles.
