Tunisia sacks head coach Ramouche after humiliating defeat in their opening World Cup match.

After suffering a humiliating 1-5 defeat to Sweden in the first round of the 2026 World Cup group stage, the Tunisian national team made radical changes and announced the dismissal of head coach Sabri Lamouchi.

The Tunisian Football Federation issued a statement on its official social media, confirming that both parties have officially reached a termination agreement and revealing that it is currently working on a plan to appoint Mondher Kebaier as the interim head coach of the national team.

Lamouchi had just taken over in January of this year and had only managed five matches before being dismissed. His only victory during his brief tenure was a 1-0 win against Haiti.

The former Nottingham Forest manager had hoped to make a breakthrough in his second World Cup campaign. He led Ivory Coast in 2014, only to be eliminated in the group stage. However, the crushing defeat in his first World Cup match directly led to his dismissal.

Time is running out for Tunisia to make adjustments. According to the schedule, they will face Asian powerhouse Japan in their second group stage match this Saturday, followed by another strong group opponent, the Netherlands.

After changing coaches, the Tunisian team urgently needs to get out of the shadow of the crushing defeat and fight hard for a chance to qualify in the next two crucial matches.
