Quique Alvarez: I am very grateful for the club's trust in me, which makes me more determined to face the challenges ahead.

Girona Football Club held a press conference at the Montilivi Municipal Stadium to officially unveil their new first-team head coach, Quique Álvarez. Club president Delfi Gri and sporting director Enrique Cassell attended the event. Members of the coaching staff were also present, including assistant coach Oscar Álvarez and fitness coach Jordi Barcelis.  

President Delph Gri stated, "Maintaining consistent performance in the B team over a long period is no easy feat, but he has succeeded and has effectively unlocked and inspired the players' potential. We believe Quique Álvarez possesses the ability to lead the team to success. The Segunda División is highly competitive and challenging, and difficulties are inevitable, but we remain confident in the overall progress."  

Sporting director Enrique Cassell described the selection process, saying, "Two years ago I invited Quique Álvarez to coach Girona B, and he has made significant progress since then. We have clearly seen an improvement in the team's overall level and the players' individual abilities, which makes us consider him an important candidate to take over the first team in the future."  

"After thorough communication and evaluation with multiple candidates and the City Football Group, we ultimately chose Quique Alvarez because he possesses outstanding leadership skills and is ready to take on high-standard and demanding goals."  

In his first public appearance as the new head coach, Quique Alvarez said: "I am very excited and deeply grateful for the trust the club has placed in me. I met with the club a week after the end of the season, but the process needs to be carried out step by step. Being considered as one of the preferred candidates gives me more confidence to meet the challenges ahead."  

He also admitted that the current stage is not easy, but he remains highly motivated. He said, "The situation is not easy, but our advantage is that we come here with fresh energy. We need to learn to pass this energy on to the team. It will be a long process before the transfer window closes, but I believe we can build a competitive team and calmly cope with this long and difficult league journey."
