Como has extended the contract of Ivan Smolčić until June 2031.

Como 1907 has officially announced that Croatian defender Ivan Smolčić has extended his contract with the club until June 2031. The defender joined Como in January 2025 and has quickly become a key member of the first team, making 41 appearances in all competitions and providing 2 assists.

With his consistent performance, reliable defensive capabilities, and excellent adaptability, he gradually became an important member of Cesc Fabregas' team and helped the team make significant progress in the 2025/26 season, including qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in the club's history.

Como coach Cesc Fabregas said: "Ivan Smolcic earned this contract extension through his hard work, professional attitude and consistently consistent performance. From the first day he joined, he fully understood our tactical requirements for defenders both on and off the ball, and has always improved himself with a humble attitude."

"As a coach, having a player like Ivan Smolčić gives you a lot of confidence. He is reliable, competitive, and always ready to play for the team, which is exactly the kind of professional mindset we hope to build and continue in Como."

Speaking about the contract extension, Ivan Smolčić said, "Since joining Como, I've immediately felt at home, and this extension shows that both sides want to continue planning for the future together. Here, I've seen a significant improvement in my tactical understanding and defensive abilities. The coaching staff and this diverse dressing room have been incredibly helpful. Last season was incredible, and I believe the new season will be just as good, perhaps even better, because we'll be competing in the Champions League, and we'll give it our all."
