Trade Completed: Stewart Traded to Grizzlies and Pistons in Exchange for 3 Second Round Picks

June 25th - According to ESPN, the Detroit Pistons and the Memphis Grizzlies have reached a trade agreement. Center Isaiah Stewart will be sent to the Grizzlies, and the Pistons will receive three future second-round draft picks in return.

The 25-year-old Stewart has been consistent this season, averaging 10 points, 5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game off the bench, with a 55% field goal percentage. He also ranked seventh in the Sixth Man of the Year voting, helping the Pistons achieve a record of 60 wins or more for the first time in 20 years.

Stewart has two years remaining on his contract, worth $30 million, with a team option for the 2027-28 season. After joining the Grizzlies, Stewart will form a young frontcourt lineup with this year's third overall pick, Cameron Boozer, number 21 Kareem Lopez, and 7-foot-3 center Zach Eddy.

Despite finishing first in the Eastern Conference this season, the Pistons were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs by the Cleveland Cavaliers. This trade is seen as an important step in restructuring the roster and will give President of Basketball Operations Trajan Langdon greater flexibility to strengthen the team this summer.
