Kobe White signed a 3-year, $74 million contract extension with the Hornets.

June 26th - According to ESPN, free agent guard Coby White plans to sign a three-year, $74 million contract extension with the Charlotte Hornets.

 

Sources indicate that Dwight White is one of the Hornets' top contract extension targets this summer. Following the trade of LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves, White will assume a new starting role, taking on more significant playmaking and scoring duties.

White was traded from the Chicago Bulls to the Hornets mid-season , and in the 21 games he played thereafter, he averaged 15.6 points with a 39% three-point shooting percentage , becoming an important offensive weapon off the bench. In the play-in game against the Miami Heat, he hit a crucial three-pointer to force overtime and ultimately help his team win 127-126 .

 

“He’s from Carolina and is a perfect fit for our team culture,” Hornets president of basketball operations Jeff Peterson told ESPN in late March. “It’s great that we finally brought him home.”
