Tamar Bates joins the Jazz, signing a two-way contract.

June 29 - According to reporter Michael Scotto, the Utah Jazz have officially announced the signing of guard Tamar Bates to a two-way contract.

Bates was ranked 27th in the 2021 high school class and played for Indiana University and the University of Missouri during his college years. After entering the professional arena, he signed a two-way contract with the Denver Nuggets for the 2025-26 season, but was unable to play in the NBA due to a foot injury.

During his time in the G League, Bates performed exceptionally well, averaging nearly 20 points per game for the Grand Rapids Gold, with a three-point shooting percentage as high as 44%, demonstrating consistent outside shooting ability and defensive potential.

According to NBA rules, each team can only have a maximum of three two-way contracts at a time. With the addition of Tamar Bates , the Jazz have reached their two-way contract quota, and the team needs to waive one of Oscar Tessbwe, Elijah Harkless , or Blake Hinson to make room.
