Former legendary powerhouse Luminosity returns to the battlefield with Monte's core lineup.

Canadian esports club Luminosity Gaming officially announced today on its website that it has confirmed its return to the Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) scene after a seven-year hiatus from professional competition.

This legendary team, which once won a CS:GO Major championship, has undergone a major restructuring and is once again launching an assault on the world's top esports arena. It is understood that Luminosity's new roster is based on the core members of the former Ukrainian esports club Monte.

Among them, Bymas, afro, and AZUWU joined as free agents after their contracts expired; in addition, the club officially bought Rainwaker from Monte. Previously, media reports indicated that Monte's management had attempted to re-sign the players before the Major, but after being eliminated from the tournament, the players ultimately decided to leave to seek new opportunities.

In the new roster, former Legacy's Brazilian rifler lux officially joined and took over as the in-game leader (IGL). He is also the only Brazilian representative in the team, replacing Gizmy, who was expected to transfer to 100 Thieves.

Benefiting from inheriting Monte's core strengths, Luminosity naturally inherited his tournament invitations and is currently ranked 17th in the VRS (Dynamic Ranking System). If they can maintain their good form, they have a very good chance of securing a spot in the Singapore Major later this year.

The brand-new Luminosity team officially debuted today at the XSE Pro League Guangzhou 2026, facing off against Nemesis in their first match, thus beginning their new journey.
