July 5th - According to the Associated Press, the Los Angeles Lakers acquired center Walker Kessler from the Utah Jazz via a sign-and-trade . The two teams will sign him to a four-year contract worth approximately $ 130 million.
In return for the trade, the Jazz will receive two future first-round draft picks and two first-round pick swaps.
The 24 -year -old Kessler is one of the league's leading defensive centers. He underwent surgery this season for a torn labrum in his left shoulder and only played 5 games, but before the injury he was highly efficient, averaging 14.4 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game with a field goal percentage of 70% .
In his first three seasons in the NBA , Kessler was known for his rim protection and efficient finishing, averaging 68% field goal percentage . He also represented the United States at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
