Harry Kane: This victory will greatly boost our confidence and enhance the fans' recognition of the team's ability.

England captain Harry Kane described the team's 3-2 victory over Mexico in the 2026 World Cup Round of 16 as one of the most iconic wins in English history. Jude Bellingham scored twice in the first half, while Kane extended the lead in the second half with a penalty. Jarrell Kwansa was later sent off with a red card, leaving England with 10 men for the remaining 40 minutes, which they held onto for the win.  

Harry Kane then conceded a penalty, which Raul Jimenez converted to make it 2-3 with about 20 minutes remaining. England then held on under pressure in the final stages, defending their lead tenaciously to ultimately win this World Cup knockout match.  

Harry Kane stated that, considering the intensity of the match and its unique context, this victory is significant enough to secure a place in English football history. With this win, Thomas Tuchel's team advanced to the World Cup quarterfinals, where they will face Norway in the next round.  

In a post-match interview, Harry Kane said: "I think this game can definitely be considered one of the most important victories in England's history. Considering the situation at the time, the context of the World Cup knockout stage, and the way we won, this victory has a very special significance."
