Warriors refrain from matching offer; Post joins Grizzlies, signing 3-year, $30 million contract.

July 8th - According to ESPN, the Golden State Warriors have decided not to match the three-year, $30 million contract offer from restricted free agent Quentin Post. In other words, Post will officially join the Memphis Grizzlies.

Sources revealed that the contract only guaranteed $9 million in the first year, with $8.5 million in the following two years, both unguaranteed. The Grizzlies also included $1.35 million in unlikely incentive clauses, putting the Warriors under greater pressure regarding luxury tax calculations, ultimately leading them to opt out of matching.

The Warriors selected Poster with the 52nd overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft . Midway through his rookie season, he gradually entered the team's rotation, becoming the stretch center the team needed thanks to his excellent outside shooting ability. Last season, he played 42 games, making 73 three-pointers with a three-point shooting percentage close to 41% .

Despite a drop in his three-point shooting percentage to 33.6% last season , Post still managed to attempt 4.1 three-pointers in 17.3 minutes per game , demonstrating a rare shooting threat for a center.

The Warriors had previously offered Post a $2.6 million qualifying offer, hoping to retain the young center at a suitable price. However, with the team re-signing Al Horford and Kristaps Porzingis during the offseason, Post's priority in the frontcourt rotation has decreased.
