Fulham officially appoints former Real Madrid head coach Álvaro Arbeloa as its new head coach..

Fulham announced on their official website on Wednesday that former Real Madrid head coach Álvaro Arbeloa has been officially appointed as the club's new head coach.

According to Fulham's official statement, Arbeloa has signed ont a three-year contract with the club which will run until the summer of 2029.

After completing his transfer procedures, Arbeloa, who was interviewed by the Fulham official website for the first time, said: "I am deeply honoured to join Fulham and begin this new journey. Fulham is London's oldest club. I feel a great responsibility and sincerely thank Mr. Shahid Khan and Mr. Tony Khan for their trust in me, giving me the opportunity to guide Fulham in the Premier League."

"I am very much looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere at Craven Cottage with Fulham fans next week and starting pre-season training with the players. I believe we will embark on a fantastic journey together. Come on, Fulham!"

About Álvaro Arbeloa

The 43-year-old Arbeloa was born on January 17, 1983, in Salamanca, Spain. During his 15-year playing career, he is a former Spain international full-back, who had played for Real Zaragoza, West Ham United, Deportivo La Coruña, and Liverpool, and is a Real Madrid legend.

After retiring, Arbeloa returned to Real Madrid in 2020 as a youth academy coach, and in 2025 he was promoted to head coach of the B team.

In January 2026, following the sacking of his former teammate Xabi Alonso, Arbeloa became Real Madrid's interim head coach.

As the Los Blancos' interim head coach, Arbeloa managed La Liga giants in 28 matches across all competitions over six months, achieving 18 wins, 2 draws, and 8 losses, with a win percentage of 64.29%. During which he helped the club reach the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
