Barnes stays with the Spurs for one year at $8 million, a 58% pay cut.

The San Antonio Spurs officially announced on Wednesday that they have reached a contract extension agreement with Harrison Barnes. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Barnes will receive a one-year, $8 million contract.

Other reports indicate that Barnes took a 58% pay cut in this contract extension. With the new contract officially taking effect, his salary next season will be reduced from $19 million to $8 million.

Harrison Barnes, 34, is a 2.01-meter tall, 102-kilogram forward who was selected by the Golden State Warriors with the 7th overall pick in the first round of the 2012 NBA draft. He won the 2015 NBA championship with the Warriors alongside stars such as Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, and subsequently played for the Dallas Mavericks and the Sacramento Kings.

In July 2024, Barnes was traded from the Kings to the Spurs. To date, he has played 159 regular season games for the Spurs, averaging 11.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 26.5 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 48.5% and a three-point percentage of 41.2%.

Barnes was also one of the key contributors to the Spurs' advancement to the NBA Finals last season. Despite coming off the bench during the playoffs, he still delivered a respectable performance, averaging 2.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.3 assists per game.

For the young Spurs, Barnes' leadership and championship experience are invaluable assets. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Barnes will continue to play a role as a rotation player for Julian Champenny next season.
