Spain, nicknamed the "La Roja," defeated Belgium 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup, thanks to goals from Fabian Ruiz and Merino. Merino later expressed his disbelief at scoring for Spain again, stating that he was currently experiencing the happiest time of his life.
