Clarkson stayed with the Knicks for one year and $3.9 million, having won the championship with the team last season.

The New York Knicks have released an official statement confirming a contract extension agreement with Jordan Clarkson. According to multiple reporters, including Shams Charania and Stefan Bondi, Clarkson will return to Madison Square Garden on a one-year, $3.9 million minimum salary contract.

Charania further pointed out that only $2.45 million of Clarkson's contract was included in the Knicks' total salary. This allowed the Knicks some leeway, thus avoiding the stringent second-highest salary threshold.

Clarkson, 34, is a 6'6" (1.96m) Filipino-American guard who entered the NBA in June 2014 as the 46th overall pick in the second round. He initially played for the Los Angeles Lakers and their G League affiliate, before joining the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Utah Jazz.

In July 2025, Clarkson signed a one-year veteran minimum contract with the Knicks. Last season, he mainly played a reserve role for the Knicks, appearing in 72 regular season games and averaging 8.6 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 17.8 minutes per game.

In the playoffs, Clarkson continued to contribute offensively off the bench for the Knicks. He played 18 games during the playoffs, delivering a respectable performance with an average of 4.9 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.6 assists, making a significant contribution to the Knicks' NBA championship victory.

With Clarkson's official return, the Knicks have secured 13 roster spots for next season. They currently have approximately $3.27 million in salary cap space before reaching the second-highest salary cap threshold and plan to bring in a third center willing to accept a veteran's minimum contract.
