Columbus Crew officially announce the signing of Real Sociedad's Spain international attacking midfielder Brais Méndez..

Columbus Crew announced on their official website on Monday that they have signed Spain international attacking midfielder Brais Méndez from Real Sociedad.

According to the Major League Soccer (MLS) club's official statement, Méndez has signed on a three-and-a-half-year contract which runs until the winter of 2029, with an option to extend for a further year. Méndez will also occupy one of the club's Designated Player (DP) registration slots.

About Brais Méndez

Brais Méndez, 29, was born on January 7, 1997, in Mos, Galicia, Spain. He is 1.87 meters tall and primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but can also play as a right winger.

Méndez joined Villarreal's youth academy at the age of 13, and two years later moved to Celta Vigo's youth academy and started playing for Celta Vigo's B team in September 2014.

After being promoted to the first-team in the summer of 2017, Méndez completed his Celta Vigo first-team debut in September of the same year.

In July 2022, Méndez joined Real Sociedad for €14 million.

During his four-year spell with Txuri-Urdin, Méndez made 166 appearances for the La Liga powerhouse in all competitions, scoring 33 goals and providing 24 assists, and winning the Copa del Rey once.
