Hawks forward Gaye underwent surgery for a fractured left foot and may miss the start of the new season.

July 16 - According to the Associated Press , Atlanta Hawks forward Mohammed Gay underwent surgery for a fractured left foot. He is expected to miss the early part of the 2026-27 season.

 

The Atlanta Hawks officially announced on Wednesday that Gaye suffered the injury during a practice on July 8 and underwent successful surgery on Tuesday. The team stated that his recovery will be reassessed in three to four months, a timeframe that may coincide with the start of the new season.

 

The 23- year-old Gay, standing at 2.11 meters tall , played 77 games for the Hawks last season , starting 8 of them, averaging 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. In the 2024-25 season, he received more playing time, appearing in 70 games and starting 28 , averaging 6.0 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
