Liverpool announced on their official website on Tuesday that they have officially signed Atlético Nacional's Colombia U17s international attacking midfielder wonderkid Samuel Martínez.
According to Liverpool's official statement, Martínez has signed a on a long-term five-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2032.
Martínez has completed the signing and medical procedures. He will officially become a Liverpool player when he turns 18 and the transfer window opens in the summer of 2027. He will initially represent Liverpool's U21s team.
Furthermore, according to earlier reports from renowned Colombian transfer journalist Pipe Sierra, Liverpool paid Atlético Nacional a transfer fee of $1 million to sign Martinez.
Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund were all keen on signing Martínez, but he ultimately decided to join the Premier League giants.
About Samuel Martínez
Martínez, who is only still 17 years old, was born on April 5, 2009, in Tuluá, Colombia. He is 1.84 meters tall and plays as an attacking midfielder.
Martínez joined Atlético Nacional's youth academy at a young age and was promoted to the U20s team at the end of 2025, becoming a member of the Colombia U17s national team in April 2026.
Since his debut, Martínez has made 6 appearances for the Colombia U17s national team, winning the U17s South American Championship with the team.
