Highly efficient three-point shooter Jones accepts Thunder's offer; Nuggets face matching decision.

According to media reports, Denver Nuggets restricted free agent Spencer Jones has reached a two-year, fully guaranteed offer to the Oklahoma City Thunder worth $12 million.

The Nuggets must decide by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Sunday whether to match the offer to retain the outside shooter. Jones, 25, is a Stanford graduate who went undrafted and joined the Nuggets on a two-way contract for the 2024-25 season, which will become a standard contract in February 2026.

In the recently concluded 2025-26 season, Jones played 64 regular season games for the Nuggets (starting 37), averaging 5.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 22 minutes per game.

Jones' core value lies in his efficient outside shooting ability. In the regular season, he attempted 144 three-pointers with a 40% success rate; during the playoffs, he demonstrated amazing consistency, with a three-point shooting percentage as high as 69.2%, ranking first in the entire league, making him a key outside scoring option in the Nuggets' rotation.

For the Thunder, this move aims to bolster their outside shooting at a low cost. During the offseason, to control their total salary and avoid a high luxury tax, the Thunder traded away three key three-point shooters: Isaiah Joe, Lugentz Dort, and Aaron Wiggins. Jones' arrival will effectively fill the team's shooting gaps.

Given that the Nuggets are also facing significant luxury tax pressure, it remains uncertain whether they can match the offer within the stipulated time.
