David Ornstein: Real Madrid has suddenly decided to join the race to sign RB Leipzig's Ivory Coast international winger Yan Diomande..

The Athletic's resident renowned English transfer journalist David Ornstein, reported on Monday that Real Madrid has suddenly decided to join the race to sign RB Leipzig's Ivory Coast international winger Yan Diomande.

According to Ornstein, after being informed by Bayern Munich that they would not sell Michael Olise, Real Madrid unexpectedly approached Diomande's agent and quickly reached an agreement with the player on personal terms.

Diomande has agreed to sign on a long-term five-year deal with Real Madrid, which would run until the summer of 2031.

Real Madrid has already begun submitting offers to RB Leipzig. It is understood that their first two offers, valued at €100 million to €120 million, have been rejected, but Los Blancos will submit a third offer soon.

Paris Saint-Germain, on the other hand, has decided to withdraw entirely from the race to sign Diomande.

According to insiders, the Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League defending champions have decided not to succumb to Diomande's high wage demands, nor will they disrupt their existing wage and financial structure to sign him.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have temporarily put their plans for Diomande's transfer on-hod.

The Reds are currently working on a deal to bring in Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain.

Furthermore, Ornstein has denied rumours claiming that Diomande deliberately went on strike or had already flown to Spain in order to join the La Liga giants.

Sources from his colleague Raphael Honigstein confirm that Diomande is currently fully focused on the Bundesliga club's pre-season training camp and friendlies.
