Mario Mitai has officially joined Genoa on loan, with a clause allowing for a subsequent buy-out.

Genoa have officially announced that they have reached an agreement with Saudi Arabia's Jeddah United to sign winger Mario Mitai on loan, with a subsequent option to buy. The young player, born on August 6, 2003, was trained in the AEK Athens youth academy and holds dual citizenship. Mario Mitai has successfully passed Genoa's medical examination and is officially beginning a new chapter in Italian football.  

Mario Mitai has also accumulated a wealth of experience in international competitions. He has already made 32 appearances for the Albanian national team and participated in the 2024 European Championship, showcasing his abilities on the international stage.  

At the club level, Mario Mitai has played for teams such as Lokomotiv Moscow, accumulating extensive professional experience. He has made a total of 142 appearances in leagues in Greece, Russia, and Saudi Arabia, as well as in various domestic and international cup competitions. During his time with UJeddah, he helped the team achieve a double in the 2024/25 season, winning both the league title and the Copa del Rey.  

Genoa's sporting director, Diego López, stated : " Mario Mitai possesses two qualities that the team highly values. Firstly, he has excellent technical ability, enabling him to participate in the team's attacking organization and enhance the quality of the attack. Secondly, he has strong mental fortitude, which is exactly the kind of spirit Genoa needs. Welcome to the team, Mario Mitai."  

Mario Mitai expressed his excitement upon joining Genoa and stepping onto the Serie A pitch. He stated , " Playing for a club with such a long history has always been my goal. I'm ready to start a new challenge and hope to prove myself in a competitive and passionate environment."
