The Warriors have secured a one-year, $3.9 million contract extension for Gary Payton.

August 2nd - According to ESPN , the Golden State Warriors will reach a one-year, $ 3.9 million contract with Gary Payton II .

 

This will be Payton's seventh season with the Warriors. Aside from a brief stint with the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2022 offseason, he has spent most of his career with the Warriors, becoming a key member of the roster upon his return.

 

Over the past few seasons, Payton Jr. has become an important player off the Warriors' bench thanks to his excellent athleticism and perimeter defense. In the 2025-26 season, he played 73 games, averaging 7.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 0.9 steals per game, with a field goal percentage of 58.3% .

 

This offseason, the Warriors plan to retain most of their veteran core players, having already re-signed Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford, De'Anthony Melton, and Draymond Green.
