Leicester City have officially announced the signing of young winger Tom Watson on loan from Brighton. The England youth international will play for Leicester City on loan for the 2026/27 season, pending approval from the English Football League (EFL).

Tom Watson, 20, is known for his speed, dribbling ability and chance-creating skills. He came through the Sunderland youth academy and helped the team gain promotion to the Premier League in the 2024/25 season.

Tom Watson said in an interview with the club : " I am very happy to be here at Leicester City. I am excited about the size of the club and the team's goals for the new season. It is very exciting for me to be a part of the team's development plan."

“I hope to integrate into the team as soon as possible through hard training and help the team with my energy and passion. I look forward to meeting my teammates, continuously improving myself in training and matches, and also looking forward to showing my abilities in front of the fans at King Power Stadium.”

Tom Watson was born in Durham, England, and joined Sunderland's youth academy at the age of nine, where he gradually developed his skills. In April 2023, he took a significant step in his career, making his first-team debut for Sunderland. The 2024/25 season saw Watson's breakthrough, making 22 appearances for the team in all competitions. He came on as a substitute in the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium, scoring the winning goal to help Sunderland defeat Sheffield United and secure promotion to the Premier League. This impressive performance caught the attention of Brighton.

In June 2025, Tom Watson completed his transfer, joining Brighton & Hove Albion in the English Premier League. After joining the team, he quickly demonstrated his attacking ability, making his debut and scoring a goal in the English League Cup match against Oxford United, helping Brighton to a 6-0 victory.

Tom Watson subsequently made six Premier League appearances for the team before being loaned to Millwall to further develop his skills. During his time at Millwall, he helped the team achieve a third-place finish in the Championship. Now, Tom Watson will officially join the Leicester City squad to prepare for the new season with his new teammates.
